Mid June Backpacking
« on: February 06, 2015, 08:02:32 PM »
I will be in the Pueblo area the first half of June and looking for suggestions for an overnight/2 night backpack trip.  Probably a 4-7 mile hike one way.  I would like to also have a chance to do some fishing.  The last couple years we have hiked in the Sangre de Cristo wilderness (Macey Lakes, Horn Lake).  Usually we are out there in July, but this year we have to be out there for a wedding in early June.  I have loved the trips in the Sangres but wondering about snow yet that time of year.  Probably would hike around the 15th of June.  Any thoughts or suggestions about where to go that time of year would be appreciated.

Don't have much help for you right now...the lower lakes might have lost their lid but you will certainly need gaiters/snowshoes to get anywhere close.
